How you're helping
Milo’s mother was taken in as a stray by a family in Kettering, who cared for her until she gave birth. Sadly, one of her kittens, Milo, was born with serious deformities to his hind legs.
A vet advised daily physiotherapy to build up strength and mobility. But while one leg responded well, Milo’s left leg still dragged behind him when he walked. It became clear that he needed major surgery.
Obviously, covering the cost of veterinary treatment would’ve been a lot to ask of the family who kindly took in Milo’s mum, so they contacted Cats Protection for support.
Thanks to support like yours, the on-site veterinary team at our West Norfolk Cat Centre provided the treatment and care Milo urgently needed, which unfortunately meant amputating his left hind leg. Thankfully the operation was a success and, thanks to the love and care of our team, he made a remarkable recovery.
As Cat Centre Deputy Manager Stacey Ely said: “Milo is a wonderful kitten. His big heart and resilience shone through in his time with us. The operation has given him a chance to run, jump and play like any normal kitten and has ensured he will be able to live a happy and pain-free life.”
It wasn’t long before Milo found a loving new home with Karla, who had this to say about her adorable new family member: “With everything that Milo has been through in his short life he is the most loving, determined little kitten. He is so full of life, and love.”
